Ferric chloride has widespread uses, most notably in water treatment as a coagulant to purify drinking water and treat wastewater by removing impurities, heavy metals, and phosphates. It is also used in the electronics industry for etching copper in printed circuit boards, as a catalyst in various chemical reactions, and in metallurgy and pigments.
